"I have had to call multiple times about my rates significantly increasing. Kim, had a good catch and realized that my “garage address” had been different from where I have actually lived for the past 10 years. Everytime I’ve moved, I always changed my address. This was apparently only “billing” and not the “garage address”. I was receiving bills, my cards had the correct address, and State Farm also insures my home. I had no reason to think that something was wrong with my address. Initially, upon learning about this, Kim was pleasant and responsive toward me. Any other interaction with her or Jeff from there and beyond, was not as pleasant. I was reprimanded that I must have never read any of my bills and that I never changed the garage address. I tried to explain to them that a layman who is not in the car insurance business would not know this. The vast majority of the time you could tell that I was bothering Jeff with any of my questions or concerns. The issues surrounding this complicated problem were that any sort of refund that came my way or “policy change” that occurred did not have much information behind it. It was nearly impossible to get ahold of corporate State Farm and under writing. My agent claimed that they only “see what I see” and that they have to wait on hold for long periods of time, as well. Any time I would get someone from corporate on the phone, I would have to describe the entire story over again. The solution was that I needed to speak with my agent, each time I called corporate. Finally, after speaking to many people in corporate, it became pretty clear that my agent did have other routes to try to be in touch with under writing, more than just by phone. Corporate told me many times that this was for them to do and that no one could put me directly in touch with under writing. I continued to keep in touch with Jeff regarding the matter. I continued to follow up. He would complain that I was “yelling” at him or “speaking to him like a child”, when in true reality he was always the one raising his voice and getting short with me. He then claimed, I was not yelling, but that I was very demanding. It was a really big problem and I had little answers over a period of 2 months after doing all I could to keep on the matter and try to get answers. Being told that he can’t see anything more than I could, me consistently trying to keep contact, me also trying to fight for myself by calling corporate, also, I was frustrated and stuck. One of the last phone calls I had with him was when I told him that I probably dislike having to call him this much, more than him, and that at least he is at his place of work, whereas, it’s becoming a full time job for me in addition to having to work my actual job, and the stress of the money lost/confusion as it all was anyway. He again, was short with me stating that I’m not his only client. There also was a new bill, just after I paid mine and my husband’s entire 6 month premium in full. The bill only said “policy change” and no one could explain what the charge was for. It was due within a couple days and he still had attitude with me that he was trying to figure it out, but “only can see what I see” and made it sound like contacting under writing wasn’t ever successful for him. At this point, I was giving up with him. I was never getting anywhere but more upset, losing time, and this unknown bill was about to be due. The last person I was able to get in touch with at State Farm from the financials department was able to look into the bill and only came back saying that my agent has made a massive mistake and that I need to file a complaint. I did and that was what finally had me in touch with an incredibly friendly, informative, and competent person from under writing. Her name was Heidi and she is truly the only reason why I will end up keeping State Farm at all. I highly recommend switching agents if you have any hiccup in your policy and are not getting answers much sooner than I did. It’s not worth the hassle and frustration."
